YouTuber Regan Benson was sentenced to sixty days in county jail and two years of probation on Friday following last month’s conviction of the well-known YouTuber, advocate for the homeless and free-range grandmother for doxing a police officer.
Benson arrived to the court in a red T-shirt accompanied by multiple supporters as the hearing opened. The prosecution gave a brief statement that Mrs. Benson showed no remorse at all for her crime and that they had submitted a video of Benson’s livestreamed attacks on the jury, the judge and the criminal process after the verdict was read last month.
This was followed by a lengthy statement from Benson’s attorney, Jamie Hubbard, who said that Benson did not take responsibility for her actions and spoke out against everyone involved in the trial because the law was unconstitutional.
Hubbard warned that the Colorado legislature was moving to amend the law to have it apply to the doxing of members of government and local officials. She claimed that the person who wrote the law only intended for it to apply when people showed up to the houses of their victims.
She also claimed that under the law, anyone involved in posting license plates of masked police agents, such as what happened with anti-ICE protestors in Minnesota earlier in the year, would face unfair charges as the law was unconstitutional.
Hubbard also accused District Attorney John Walsh of prosecuting the case as a favor to the victim, Commander Joel Bell, noting that the two “were close” and that Walsh had made a speech praising Bell’s work in the past.
Benson herself declined to make a statement on her own behalf due to her pending appeal of the conviction.
Judge Isaam Shamsid-Deen addressed the court and noted that he had reviewed Benson’s livestream from last month following the guilty verdict. He noted that at no point has Benson taken responsibility for her own actions and has put the blame for her actions on others.
The Judge also brought up a situation during the trial where Benson claimed that she had been doxxed and that there were threats against one of her family members. Benson appeared shaken by that memory and disturbed that someone would make a threat towards her family.
However, when Benson was asked if police commander Joel Bell, the victim in this case, should have felt afraid due to the doxxing on her behalf, she laughed. She said that her threat was unserious and that Bell had nothing to worry about.
Hubbard then quickly interjected that the doxxing incident involving Benson involved someone threatening to sexually assault Benson’s child, before letting the Judge continue.
Originally, Judge Shamsid-Deen sentenced Benson to 90 days in county jail. However, the prosecution objected due to the fact that a 90-day sentence was too long for someone convicted of a misdemeanor who was also getting probation.
The Judge then amended his ruling to a 60 -day sentence in county jail, two years’ probation and $1,000.00 in fines. He also noted that Benson would have other fines and court costs on top of the $1,000.00 fine.
A $3,000.00 cash appeal bond was also mandated by the Judge.
Benson is also facing fees of $78.00 for victim compensation, $37.00 for the victim assistance fund, $1,200.00 in a supervision fee, $21.00 in criminal court costs, $5.00 for a court security fee, $2.50 for an offender identification fee to go along with the $1,000.00 criminal fine. Her total amount due is $2,343.50.
Hubbard took to the podium and reminded the judge that Benson qualified for a public defender to handle her appeal. The judge noted that as Benson was proceeding as Forma Pauperis, he would waive the costs of the appeal, however, he could not waive the appeal bond.
When Hubbard asked for Benson to be released and given the weekend to come up with the appeal bond, the Judge denied the request and the court’s livestream ended with Benson being taken into custody by police.
This is a breaking news story.

LOL
Gee why is it they always go into custody? chilli and now Benson. It’s almost as if the system hits back on them?
She will, I assume post her bond on Monday? and once more be out of jail. Free to harass and bemoan the entitlement of the frauditor. Oh well. Maybe she will learn something from this. Or not.
Next time, she will get a harsher sentence…
Look at dear chilli. He came out a changed man… Mature and willing to be a responsible adult…
Ya who am I kidding. He came out the same POS that went in.
So will she. Eventually, she will ether grow up or she will cross the line and they will throw the book at her as a convicted offender.
