Overshadowed by Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s Friday evening arrest, YouTuber Robert “Harvey Freebird” Harvey himself was arrested in Galveston, Texas, on Saturday when police found that he had an outstanding warrant for harassment.
Harvey was traveling down a street in his truck with YouTuber Truth be Told Audits planning to spend the evening watching fireworks and police officers during the course of their duties when they were pulled over for Galveston police.
Offering little resistance, Harvey exited the vehicle as instructed by an officer and was immediately placed in handcuffs and informed of his outstanding warrant. Truth Be Told Audits remained in the vehicle, addressing his own followers before a second officer instructed him to exit the vehicle.
When it became apparent that police would be taking Harvey to jail, Truth Be Told Audits asked if he could drive Harvey’s vehicle home. He was told a flat “no” as the officer had already called for a tow truck. He protested that he was now stranded and was told, “Welcome to Texas.”
Before the initial video ended, Harvey indicated that the warrant was for a complaint filed by La Marque, Texas, City Councilman Joseph Lowry. Lowry and Harvey have been sparring for months over Lowry’s attempts to get a so called “halo law” enacted within the city.
The proposed halo law would provide a buffer zone around police officers, first responders and paramedics in the course of their duties. If a citizen is ordered to back away set number of feet from the protected professions in the course of their duties, that citizen could be cited with a misdemeanor offense for failing to comply with the lawful order.
Harvey was taken to the Galveston County Jail and was held on a $1,000.00 bond. Truth be Told Audits got a ride from another auditor to make initial contact with jailers and discuss conditions of Harvey’s release.
Truth Be Told Audits was told that Harvey would be held overnight as he needed to see a judge in the morning. The police worker also informed him that the Judge could not change the bond amount and that if the auditors returned with the money, it would be held to be applied to Harvey’s case and would expedite the release process the next morning.
The pair apparently did this, indicating that they had a doner who had promised the $1,000.00 before ending their second video.
They posted a third video Sunday morning as they went to pick up Harvey from the jail. Harvey seemed to be in good spirits but indicated that there were bond conditions that he needed to abide by, which included not mentioning Councilmember Lowry on a YouTube video.
Harvey also indicated that Lowry, without mentioning the councilman by name, “flipped everything upside down” and told the police that Harvey was the aggressor, when in reality Lowery was aggressively harassing Harvey.
No further details have been released about Harvey’s bond amount or further bond conditions. No court dates have been released as well.
