Monday saw a significant setback for YouTuber and cop watcher Christopher “Direct D” Ruff as his request for a bond reduction was denied due to prior warrants, but all was not bad as he drew in a considerable number of donations to his crowd sourcing campaign following the news.

Ruff is currently in the Apache County, Arizona, jail on charges of felony Stalking Emotional Distress/Fear and a misdemeanor charge of Unlawful Knowingly Direct Lewd Electronic Communications.

While down from multiple felonies and misdemeanor charges he was initially charged with, but he is also being held on multiple warrants from Maricopa County for missing court dates over the past few years.

Ruff’s supporters, including fiancée, Amanda, say that he moved to Apache County years ago to change his lifestyle and stop cop watching. He did have the warrants from Maricopa County but knew he would not be extradited to face the charges while living there unless he picked up new charges.

Amanda picked up on that thread on Monday during her afternoon livestream. She singled out charging officer Xavier Stewart for dogpiling the charges on Ruff. She said that Stewart and Ruff knew each other from a prior incident where Ruff had to report his children missing.

She went on to say that it was Stewart was very young and had moved to Apache County from Maricopa County’s police force, which is an unusual career path as it’s considered a step down as Apache county is one of the poorest counties in Arizona.

Amanda promised that once he got out of jail, Ruff was considering returning to cop watching and she stated that Stewart was fair game for targeted cop watching by her fiancé once he is released from jail.

As she was regaling her viewers with Ruff’s good qualities, including his concern for his accuser’s child if the accuser herself went to jail, Amanda received news from Ruff’s attorney that the bond reduction was denied.

After a few minutes of muted silence as she talked to the attorney, returning to the livestream minutes later with the news that the primary reason for the denial came as Ruff was characterized as a flight risk for all of his warrants for not appearing in court in Maricopa County.

That news brought an immediate outpouring of support from Ruff’s fans. His Help Chris “Direct D” Ruff Get Home fund won the crowd sourcing title for Tuesday with $2,670.00 in new donations. Lane Myers placed second with $35.00. No other campaigns that we follow saw new donations for the day.

The windfall put the couple at roughly $4,000.00 out of the $15,000.00 they needed in cash bond to secure his release.

Update: As of Tuesday morning, that estimate was reportedly up to around $6,000.00.

Amanda pledged to put up her property in Hawaii to help secure Ruff’s release from jail and said that she was now scheduled to be in Arizona in early September.

This is an on-going news story.
