After Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney’s (Turtleboy) surprise Saturday announcement that he would be in court on Monday morning at 9AM, Reporter Grant Smith Ellis clarified the nature of the hearing on twitter.
Ellis wrote:
Correcting our own earlier coverage, Turtleboy was released on his own recognizance after his previous District level charges were bumped up to the Superior court and under the condition that he did not commit further crimes. He had no set bond for the current charges.
He was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend hours after being released which resulted in a brief manhunt before Kearney turned himself in.
Turtleboy’s supporters are expecting a formal bond hearing to be held as part of the hearing later this morning. While it is possible for Kearney to receive bond, he has already shown he was a flight risk and committed more crimes after being previously released.
We will continue to monitor this story throughout the day.
