Clad in a suit, tie and ever-present sunglasses, YouTuber John “First Amendment Protection Agency” Medaglia announced on a livestream on Wednesday that he was not leaving YouTube and was in the process of appealing YouTube’s decision to demonetize his channel, along with roughly 90% of the channels in his genre.
Medaglia is widely seen as the face of the demonetization as his recent fight with a patron of a Colorado Springs, Colorado, dispensary and merchandise sales over the savage beating he gave the man was seen as the “final straw” that let YouTube to its decision to punish the genre as a whole.
The bleached blonde spokesperson for himself did not address these rumors, nor did he take any responsibility for his actions, instead, encouraging further trolling of his “haters” and looking forward to what he feels he can do on YouTube now that he’s demonetized.
Whether you’re whether you’re a uh a fan that doesn’t like First of all, you’re gonna run out of things to talk about very soon. Like I said Earlier uh we got the Invisalign going. Uh you know now the channel is demonetized, which honestly it just opens more doors if you think about it because now I’m gonna be playing slim shady music during my videos and during my intros and outros for right now Uh because I mean it’s it’s demonetized, so it is what it is.
Like I said, so this this is gonna this is gonna open up new avenues and you know there uh it’s very unfortunate. Um some people uh the it particularly the smaller channels that are making maybe a little bit less money um or maybe none at all that are really aspiring to uh get out there and uh and make a change and make a name for themselves and you know to to do as what most you know content creators or you know news journalists anybody whether you run a news station a legit news station or not Uh, you know, everybody does something to go out and make some money. It is what it is.
So, I mean, it it’s gonna affect a lot of those people. A lot of those people are gonna be very heavily affected And uh it’s very unfortunate. Um and and I’m not gonna sit here like you know, I’m not gonna sit here and pretend like I’m not gonna be affected by it either But I will also not pretend that this is going to stop what we’re doing.
Addressing fighting YouTube’s policies, he said:
So um as far as the changes to the terms of service and the rules and everything like that go Uh there’s a couple different ways. Um I’m gonna wait until after the two weeks to go through for my appeal um and for everybody’s appeal this is why i uh you know i I have a I have a large amount of people right now here that want to hear what’s going on and uh you know To let out the entire game plan would be would be foolish of me and I hope you guys can understand that. Um but in total though Uh we are we’re gonna take care of this and there’s a couple different ways that we can go about it.
Uh with the absolutely vague wording and uh you know things that they wanna demonetize and do change up the game and to not allow on YouTube anymore. Um you guys will see once I put everything out, you guys will see how uh how ridiculously vague and how uh much this could just apply to whatever they want to just about every single video on YouTube as far as like shocking content or content that grabs people’s viewers or content that is for views Content that is specifically for views. For for a social media uh company to put out something about their content uh not allowing content that is for views.
It’s it’s pretty it’s pretty funny. So I’m gonna like I said. Uh there’s a lot that I want to just go out and just break down and show you get just you know whip out the MacBook right now and show you guys.
Um I I would love to, but I can’t. So, you know, you guys, it’s all out there. It’s all out there. You guys uh can all go and look up uh exactly what I’m what I’m talking about.
You can look at the exact terms of service changes um and you can look up What other genres of content have been massively affected like this? And what other genres of content that they say are gonna be massively affected? And just think, because um You know, like I said, it it may not be as popular as it was now, and trust me, I am not I am not calling right now, I am not calling for the demonetization of other channels.
I think this is just uh absolutely ridiculous. But if you think about it, the First Amendment auditors are not the only people this that just go out and do what we do and uh, you know, when you look at exactly what is now banned and not allowed and uh and you apply it to other genres of content, you’re gonna see that it basically applies to everything. Um and you know I can’t wait to see what else is said uh what else has changed by the rules and the terms of services from YouTube itself.
Medaglia went on to vow that he would not add another GoFundMe to support himself after his demonetization. The first amendment advocate already has a legal defense fund and, strangely, a fund for his fans to buy him a new car on the crowdsourcing platform.
Both of those campaigns were silent on Thursday, along with the majority of the market. Our own on-going expenses campaign won the day with $50.00 in new donations. No other campaigns that we follow saw donations for the day.
Medaglia is expected to go live later today with an update on his criminal charges out of Mississippi.
