Regan Benson’s rage tour continued on Thursday as she attended a police advisory meeting in Denver’s District 6, mercilessly roasted her enemies on her livestream and got into a verbal altercation with a homeless man in a park in Englewood, Colorado.
Benson started the day in downtown Denver. District 6 police were having their monthly Citizen’s Advisory Group meeting in a church in downtown Denver. Benson was there as it was the first meeting of the group since the shooting of Luis “Real Constitutional Upholders” Johnson by police earlier in the year.
Johnson is still recovering from his wounds from an incident where he shot someone in self defense then went home without calling police. When he reached his building, he was still holding his gun and ran inside the building instead of complying with their orders.
Inside the building, Johnson was stopped at a security door where he refused to drop his weapon when the police ordered him to do so. They opened fire as he appeared to have been starting to drop his weapon. According to police, Johnson was shot seven times, while Benson is claiming nine times.
Benson received the news early on Thursday that the police officers were cleared of wrongdoing in the shooting incident and was at the meeting for more information about what happened and to “redress her government.”
The free-range grandmother remained relatively calm during the meeting, with her only real interjection coming at the end of the meeting when she wanted to know if the police had paid for the use of the church. They had not as she was told that the church had donated the use of the building for the meeting.
Benson then took a tour of her kingdom. From District 6 to the downtown area, stopping briefly in Memorial park to check if State Police were doing anything to offend her. During that drive, she shared that she heard that one of her many nemesis, Judge Barry Schwartz, was retiring from the bench.
Schwartz has been a frequent target of Benson’s wrath and had been briefly suspended early this year after an investigation censured him for paying a $1.00 bond he had set for a woman last summer.
Benson made her way from Denver to Englewood to a park she recently had been making her home base for homeless outreach now that she’s been temporarily suspended from the Englewood Civic Center.
To her great displeasure, police arrived at the park with a solar powered security platform filled with cameras as she interacted with homeless people at the park. In her outrage, she lashed out as the police put the platform in place and ended up having a verbal altercation with a long-time homeless resident of Englewood.
Benson does not believe in government, she does not believe that anyone can tell someone else what to do. In her stated beliefs, all police are “thugs” working on behalf of the government to suppress the natural freedom of others.
The homeless man was identified by Benson only as “Curtis,” was helping clean up the park as part of a police initiative. Regan was angry that the man was assisting the police in any way as she feels that the police in Englewood are out to criminalize homelessness and did not have Curtis’s best interest in mind.
Curtis loudly fought back against Benson’s barbs, telling her that it was his own fault that he was homeless and that he could not go around blaming others for his predicament in life. Benson countered that the police were the “army of the government” and should not be trusted, that Curtis was being used by them, and that Curtis shouldn’t be helping his oppressors.
Police watched during the screaming match but did not intervene. It eventually resolved as both got quiet, Benson later returning to her vehicle. She said that she engaged with Curtis as she knew he wasn’t violent, then disparaged the man for putting faith in police.
She ended the livestream soon afterwards, promising more follow up in the Englewood area.
