In what could be a crushing blow to the public relations campaign for jailed bicycle enthusiast, social media influencer, convicted felon and first amendment provocateur Lane Myers, unofficial spokesperson Andrea “Illuminate the Dark” Dotson was sentenced to one year of probation on Wednesday with conditions stating that she is not to associate with those persons convicted of a felony or misdemeanor.
Dotson was acquitted in Missouri in August of a charge of Resisting a Lawful Detention and convicted of a count of misdemeanor Assault in the Fourth Degree Against a Special Victim.
The charges stemmed from an incident in January where police responded to a report of a woman who was highly intoxicated and sleeping outside in the snow.
According to the police report, Dotson was highly intoxicated but sitting inside her house watching TV when police arrived. An altercation with one of the officers occurred when the officer spoke to her child without her permission and she got up to block the officer from accessing the child.
As she put her hands on a law enforcement official, she was charged with fourth degree assault on a special victim. That charge carried a punishment of up to one year in county jail and up to $2,000.00 in fines.
Dotson dodged significant jail time at her sentencing hearing on Wednesday, receiving one year of probation, 100 hours of community service, an alcohol treatment program and the requirement she write a letter of apology to the deputy she assaulted by September 9, 2026.
As conditions of her probation, she’s not to drink alcohol or be in bars, she must submit to random breath, blood or urine testing and she must not associate with any person who has been convicted of or placed o probation for a felony or misdemeanor.
Dotson has been Myers’ primary spokesperson since he has been banned from contacting Josh “This is a Public Service” Grey as part of his probation conditions.
If Dotson abides by her probation conditions, she will be put in a place where she must avoid Myers at all costs to avoid having her own probation revoked. This would make her duties as Myers’ spokesperson impossible as the public has monitored her moves on YouTube and other social media platforms for updates on the jailed Myers.
Myers is currently in the Pima County, Arizona, Adult Correctional Facility on accusations that he violated his probation. The sometime YouTuber took a plea deal and agreed to be convicted of two felony charges last year. As part of that conviction, he faced strict conditions of probation that prevented him from talking about his victim or her family on social media.
He was taken into custody by authorities for allegedly violating his probation earlier this year after doing a series of livestreams where he continued to mention his victim and threatened to go to her workplace to see if she still worked there.
With Myers cut off from Grey, who was his primary advocate during his trial last year, Dotson assumed the role of primary advocate for the jailed bicycling enthusiast. She has coordinated his jail house interviews, been the primary force behind his fundraising campaigns and in the absence of Myers own wife/girlfriend, been his primary support system while he has been incarcerated.
The potential loss of Dotson means that Myers is going into his next probation violation hearing largely blind and deaf, with little way to contact the outside world and get his messaging out before the hearing.
Myers’ next hearing is scheduled for September 14, 2026.
