YouTube personality and current resident of the Pima County Adult Correction Facility Lane Myers released a last-minute statement on the Blue Line Transparency channel hours before the third hearing to hear a motion to revoke his probation in which he threatened reporters who may report on his case.
Myers was apparently upset at Judge D. Douglas Metcalf for stating that Joey Paine, one of two speakers who brought up Myers in the feedback portion of the Arizona Supreme Court Task Force on the Rules of the Supreme Court’s recent hearing on rules changes, was directly associated with Myers.
In his ruling, Metcalf stated:
Two individuals spoke at the September 3 public meeting (by audio) during the call to the public: Joey Paine and Jason Adam Jensen. Both Mr. Paine and Mr. Jensen have previously asked for permission to either live stream or record proceedings in Defendant’s pending cases. When Mr. Paine submitted his written request to record the proceedings in these cases, he did so on behalf of the “Phoenix Times.” Later, during court hearings on March 19 and 20, 2025, Defendant admitted that the “Phoenix Times” is a “doing business as” name for his company, Freedom Productions, LLC. A recent review of the Arizona Corporation Commission website confirms that Defendant is a member and manager of Freedom Productions, LLC, a fact as to which the Court takes judicial notice. As such, Mr. Paine, who spoke at the September 3 public meeting, is associated with Defendant through Defendant’s LLC.
The Court denied both Mr. Paine’s and Mr. Jensen’s requests to record hearings in these cases. Mr. Jensen filed a special action to appeal the denial, which the Court of Appeals denied in 2 CA-SA 20260068.
Both Mr. Paine and Mr. Jensen mentioned Defendant during their remarks to the Task Force at the September 3 meeting. No one else mentioned Defendant during the meeting.
He later returned to the subject in the closing of his ruling:
Moreover, and importantly, to the best of this Division’s recollection, the only time Defendant’s name has been mentioned during any Task Force meeting was during comments made by members of the public, at least one of whom is associated with Defendant, during a call to the public at the September 3 meeting. It is well settled that a litigant (in this case through proxies) cannot claim bias or prejudice when “a party acts deliberately and with an ulterior motive in such a way as to cause the judge to become biased and prejudiced against that party….” Id. To allow a litigant to cause a judge to have to recuse himself based on the litigant’s own conduct (through proxies) would “severely hamper[] and thwart[]” “the orderly administration of judicial proceedings.” Id.
The Joey Paine moniker had largely been associated with Josh “This is a Public Service” Gray, who Myers is currently prohibited from contacting due to probation conditions.
And I want to address that right now and I wanna set some things straight for the record which I’m gonna also set straight in court tomorrow. I don’t know how that’ll go because I know Metcalf will probably get mad and try to kick me out of court, but it it’s gonna be addressed either way. So I want to address it now and uh and that give the people, the free people, an opportunity to contact Metcalf on his phone number that’s listed on the Superior Court website.
You can also contact the presiding judge uh McGinley and let ’em know what’s going on if if he’s so inclined. Now here’s the thing, okay, in response to my lawyer’s motion Mattcalf wrote an opinion saying that the reason he’s not biased or he’s not going to recuse himself is because I and it was somehow associated with the people who were speaking. And because I was somehow associated with the people that were speaking at the uh at the committee That means that um I was attempting to create some type of bias and out of something that wasn’t there.
Well first of all I want to address that right now. Okay. He claims that uh Joey Dane works for my company.
I want to make a couple of things clear. I haven’t talked to Joey Paine in over 18 months. Around 18 months.
March of 2024 was the last time I spoke to Joey Paine. Second of all, he’s he does not work for his my company. My company’s not affiliated with him and hasn’t been for 18 months.
Next, to insinuate that I somehow knew there was a meeting coming up and asked those people to go there and do that, that’s a false statement. All my calls are recorded, all my messages from the jail are recorded. There’s no proof that that took place and and and when the time comes and I’m out of this dungeon, I’m gonna be able to prove that he was defaming me because there’s no evidence that I knew that that meeting that uh 122 rule meeting.
I had no idea that meeting was coming. I had no idea those people were gonna speak. I’m not affiliated with those people in any way.
They’re not my associates. They’re not they’re not by proxy, as he said. So in order to show that he wasn’t biased, he created a story.
He made up a fairy tale, basically trying to insinuate that somehow Joey Paine works for me when he hasn’t I haven’t spoken to him in 18 months. He’s trying to insinuate that I somehow said, hey, go to that meeting and um say things to Metcalf so then we can say he’s biased and get him recused. Well that’s how it happened.
At all. Because I haven’t talked to those people in 18 months. And I didn’t find out about the meeting until after.
Myers would go on to warn members of the press that he would sue if they reported the information connecting Myers to Paine.
There is not one iota of truth in any of those statements connecting me and Joey Paine, me and whoever else he said, me and the people that spoke at the meeting. There’s no the FBI, the CIA, the National Security Agency, the Director of Intelligence Agency, whatever Nobody could ever find a single iota of evidence that I’ve spoken to Joey Paine in eighteen months, that his company is he’s trying to say it was a DBA of mine. No, it hasn’t been for eighteen months.
My company hasn’t been a affiliated with the Phoenix New Time that that whole thing in eighteen months. I haven’t I had nobody how would I know that there was a meeting coming up and who was gonna talk at it and how would I um ask them people to do that. So if you really want to see what’s going on, just take the information I just told you, which Which is there’s no connection between me and those people.
There’s no um there’s no proof that I knew that meeting was coming. I didn’t find out about it till after they spoke. So so if you wanna read the tea leaves, just just understand that the judge that’s claiming he’s not bias and prejudice, in order to do that, had to completely make up a story.
So people are probably sitting around going, Oh, those people are connected. We are not connected in any way. So do not think that.
And if you’re sitting out there saying that, you’re defaming me. And I will find out because because the internet is forever. So you will be held accountable for for just because Metcalf said it doesn’t make it true.
And so if you think that because Metcalf said it, that means you can say it. Well, you’re in for big problems when I get out of this shithole. Because I’m gonna sue everybody that is is is saying that because it’s It’s badly false.
So be prepared to get served if you’re regurgitating that trash that Metcalf said. And if you want to support me, you can let your voice be heard to Chief J presiding Judge McGinley. and the Metcalf themselves and let them know that you’re not fooling us.
