Those looking for resolution to the latest crisis in the magical land of Lane Myers, social media influencer, first amendment advocate, self-proclaimed modern Martin Luthor King Jr., bicycle enthusiast and all around victim of his own bad choices, will have to wait at least two more days as Judge D. Douglas Metcalf ordered a second day for the hearing to revoke his probation.
Tuesday was a mess, according to our observer. Myers’ attorney, Mark “the Shark” Resnick, lived up to his predator nickname by insisting that every segment played by prosecutor Rahcel Stiles in her presentation against his client contained the full video segment as outlined in her second amended motion to revoke probation.
This mean that the courtroom was more often than not filled with unavoidable music, sometimes twice in the same segment, repeated verbal quotations Myers snipped from other sources. This resulted in the segments taking so much time, at the demand of Resnick to set the true context of a Myers livestream, that any momentum prosecutor Stiles had was lost in the boredom of the audio and video segments.
That said, the day was not without excitement as early on in the prolonged slog, a man in the audience interrupted the proceedings by alerting a deputy that someone was audio streaming the hearing. The proceedings went to break and when they returned, all those in the gallery were required to turn their phones off or face action from the judge.
The person who allegedly streamed the hearing was not ejected from the courtroom and was allowed to stay for the rest of the proceedings, whether he liked it or not.
It also wasn’t all bad for prosecutor Stiles, who was able to use Myers ex-girlfriend (who he calls his “wife”) to show a link between Myers and Josh “This is a Public Service” Gray, which was prohibited by Myers’ probation conditions.
That link reportedly came the day that Myers was notified that he needed to come in to the probation department, where he was ultimately arrested, when Myers’ ex saw a cash advance on a credit card that she did not authorize. That cash advance was paid back by Gray.
She also stated that when going through files on Myers’ computer and YouTube account, she found that he did not delete video files of his past livestream that he had been ordered to do as part of his probation.
But Resnick also scored points of his own. Myers’ probation officer was put on the stand by Prosecutor Stiles and was unable to point out specifics about the violations that Myers is alleged to have done. Even after presumably being prepared to testify by the prosecution, the man claimed that he was so overwhelmed by his case load – with over 200 active cases – that he was unable to monitor Myers effectively.
This may ultimately save Myers from prison time as probation was ill equipped to handle someone who was streaming for 13 hours a time, streaming at odd hours (midnight or 3am local time in some cases) and then removing the content.
While probation had access to all of Myers’ accounts, they simply did not or could not keep up with his output as he used a sheer volume of livestreams to allegedly violate his probation.
When pressed why probation did not intervene earlier, and why Myers allegedly received a glowing report from probation from a visit to his house weeks prior to his arrest, no real answers were reportedly given.
More troubling, the decision to arrest Myers was reportedly out of the hands of his probation officer, with higher ups in the department ultimately making the call when faced with preponderance of evidence showing that Myers allegedly violated his probation.
Stiles was said to have recovered with the third witness, the victim’s husband, a Tucson area prosecutor, who explained that he and his wife took a more active role in reporting violations to probation as probation was either unwilling or unable to keep track of Myers on their own.
Earlier, Myers’ probation officer had stated that the involvement of the victim and the victim’s family was not uncommon. Myers had been listing the victim’s husband as his “default probation officer” in recent livestreams, calling out his victim for her activity in monitoring his actions that resulted in violations against him.
ReallyCoolNews was brought up in a segment by prosecutor Stiles at the start of Tuesday’s hearing. It involved a segment where Myers was directly threatening to sue our publication and had equated his actions as “reporter Lane Myers” to our action reporting the news.
Myers apparently missing the distinction that ReallyCoolNews is not on probation with conditions limiting his interaction with his victims. The segment also highlighted Myers’ advocacy for the first amendment for himself, which was the basis for a reporter from the Arizona Republic attending the hearing, while threatening those who report on his activities with lawsuits and injunctions.
The First Amendment champion saw no new donations to his GiveSendGo for the day, as the entire market was again filled with goose eggs despite significant activity by those in the market.
In a correction to our previous reporting, Christopher “Direct D” Ruff’s GiveSendGo account is still up and running. Apparently one of his helpers had changed the name of the GiveSendGo campaign along with the URL without distributing the new URL to those following his case. We have corrected our URL and will be monitoring the link in case it inadvertently changes again.
Myers was unexpectedly silent Tuesday night, having no new interviews or reactions to the day’s events released to the public.
The second day in the hearing for Lane Myers’ probation revocation is set for Thursday, August 13, 2026.
