Chille DeCastro Gets Into HOT Water Over Livestreamed Mediation Call?

Jose “Chille” DeCastro shocked onlookers on Wednesday as he may have gotten himself into some legal hot water as he attempted to livestream his scheduled mediation call in his appeal to the 9th Circuit over his recent loss in federal court of his long-standing lawsuit against the Las Vegas Metropolitan police.

DeCastro started Wednesday’s livestream by indicating that he fully intended to livestream the proceedings and recorded himself calling in to the scheduled mediation conference. From there DeCastro let the audio of the conference play live and unedited until the mediator did a role call and DeCastro announced himself.

The mediator said that the mediation session was typically held between the attorneys in the matter and not the parties to the lawsuit. She asked if there was any objection to having DeCastro there and received none from attorney Craig Anderson, who represents the defense.

DeCastro explained that he is a journalist, using his standard line that all of his phone conversations are recorded. He did not inform anyone on the call that he was currently live streaming the proceedings on his YouTube channel.

The mediator indicated that recording of the proceedings was inappropriate as all aspects of the conference were confidential. He claimed that it was his understanding that all proceedings were not confidential and that he could record the proceedings.

After some back and forth, DeCastro eventually muted the audio of the livestream but would continue to provide play by play of the goings on in messages posted to his YouTube broadcast’s side chat.

These are DeCastro’s unedited comments, please note that the timestamps reflect Eastern time while the conference itself was held in the Pacific time zone.

As soon as the livestream concluded, DeCastro repeated his claims that he had no intention of settling the case and that the next hearing would be set for later in the month.

There were multiple reactions to DeCastro’s actions, including reports of viewers who have announced that they reported DeCastro to the 9th circuit for broadcasting the proceedings. Others have attempted to contact attorney Anderson, representing the defendants, to let him know he was unwittingly streamed by DeCastro.

As of press time, DeCastro’s broadcast is still available on his YouTube channel. According to Playboard, the broadcast brought in $65.00 in super chat revenue and peaked at 170 concurrent viewers. It has had 3,414 total views, 311 likes and 46 comments.

It is unclear if the Court knows about DeCastro’s actions, however, it would later schedule the next conference with only DeCastro’s team represented at the hearing:

MEDIATION CONFERENCE SCHEDULED (text only) – DIAL-IN Mediation Conference Call with counsel for appellant only, 4/22/2026, 3:00 pm Pacific Time. Each participant will receive an email with dial-in instructions. The briefing schedule is amended as follows: Opening Brief Due (Appellant) 5/26/2026, Answering Brief Due (Appellee) 6/25/2026, Optional Reply Brief (Appellant) due within 21 days from the service date of the answering brief. [Entered: 04/15/2026 04:26 PM]

DeCastro’s stunning act of what some would call transparency brought no new attention to his associated GoFundMe campaigns.

Jonathan “Frauditor Troll” Hudon-Huneault’s Help us Fight this anti-free speech retaliation lawsuit gained $25.00 in value due to exchange rate changes between USD and CAD for Thursday.

Our own ReallyCoolSite OnGoing Expenses fund brought in $300.00 to win the day from donations related to our spring fundraising drive to cover our Pacer bill and other huge expenses we have coming over the next few months.

This is an on-going news story.
