Michael “Blue Bacon” Pierattini (Bacon) gave an update on Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s defamation and harassment lawsuit against him, Kate Peter, Team Skeptic, Daniel Clement and 50 John Doe YouTube creators.
A hearing was held on Thursday to address Bacon’s motion to strike his participation in the lawsuit due to California’s Anti-SLAPP laws.
DeCastro specifically names Bacon in charges that he participated the creation of a controversial video produced for Kate Peter’s Troll Mafia channel and that Bacon harassed DeCastro by sending multiple e-mails to him after getting approval by a court to do to serve DeCastro.
According to Bacon’s account, the hearing was relatively brief with Judge H. Jay Ford III asking both men if they had anything to add to their submitted arguments. The judge then told both men that they should seek legal representation as they were not properly filing motions.
Judge Ford stated that he didn’t see a real problem if the pair did not confer with each other before the case management hearing next week as there was a protection order in place, and he wanted to fast track the lawsuit for trial in the near future.
A ruling on the Anti-SLAPP motion will be made in written form sometime before the case management hearing next week.
