Regan Benson and Christopher Cordova live streamed before Cordova’s arraignment hearing on charges stemming from the warrant that was served on Cordova for obstruction Monday night.
Apparently preparing for a dramatic incident, Benson was grim in her assessment of what could be in store for both of them at the Sheridan, Colorado, court house. Benson envisioned a squad of police ambushing them as they entered the building with new warrants and charges.
Cordova gave Benson a key to his house, in a dramatic moment, as he did not know if he’d be coming back. Benson followed suit by making arrangements to have someone take her phone and live stream should they be arrested as the entire system, in her assessment, was rigged against them and corrupt.
Looking around the parking lot, Benson said she saw some familiar faces and indicated that she believed that Sheridan Police Chief Jeffery Martinez, who she had previously accused of sending her e-mail death threats, would bring his “thugs” to continue his alleged reign of terror against the activists.
Grim faced, the pair exited Benson’s vehicle and began the walk towards the courthouse. The were immediately joined by Cordova’s lawyer, Cordova’s girlfriend Teresa Neal, and a small band of supporters, who Benson described as “observers.” Benson wondered aloud if the evil and corrupt judge who had treated her unfairly would be there as she didn’t see his transport vehicle in the parking lot.
The group entered the building and were surprised when they weren’t immediately arrested. In fact, Benson stopped the livestream as there was no dramatic encounter to be seen, just the normal security guards processing people through the security checkpoint.
Benson stated that she would pin a post to the live stream with updates as they happened and would have someone hold a second live stream if she were taken into custody.
When the posted update came, Benson announced that no one went to jail and that Cordova was advised that the charges of obstruction came from a March 9 event and that Cordova will go to trial on May 11, 2023.
In related news, Cordova announced on the live stream that he pleaded not guilty in Federal Court in his trial for trespassing at a Social Security Administration building last year. He agreed with Regan Benson’s assessment that he had the greatest lawyer in Colorado and felt positive about the outcome of his defense as one of the officers involved in the arrest called the area he entered a “lobby.” Based on this claim, he would have been well within his rights to film in the area.
