Regan Benson spent Thursday ferrying her friend Josh around the cities of Denver and Englewood on Thursday seeking to file a police report over an incident where Josh says he was falsely accused of brandishing a handgun at a security guard in Denver last month.
Josh, who is homeless, works as a security guard in the Denver area and was simply walking to work last month when he encountered another security guard on a property in Denver last month.
That security guard inquired into what Josh was doing on the property she was securing and ultimately called the police to file a police report on the homeless YouTuber. As displayed on bodycam footage Josh showed during Benson’s livestream, the woman accused Josh of waving a handgun in her face during the incident.
Police on scene found no evidence of Josh having a weapon or anything to prove the woman’s account. Josh was not charged in the incident.
The incident peaked Benson’s interest as friend Luis “The Real Constitutional Upholders” Johnson was shot by police after shooting someone in self defense earlier this year in downtown Denver.
Benson has portrayed Denver police as bloodthirsty and has claimed that police likely would have shot Josh in the incident had he not acted professionally when approached.
The free-range grandmother and sometime homeless outreach specialist famously took Josh to a meeting of the Office of the Independent Monitor’s council meeting last month where Josh briefly met the Independent Monitor and filed a report on the incident.
Having not heard back from the Independent Monitor, Benson intended to take Josh to file a police report on the female security guard for filing a false police report in the original incident.
Intended, indeed, as Benson took Josh to the main police headquarters in downtown Denver where she was told by officers working the window that they would have to seek help from a detective in Denver’s District 6 to file that report.
Benson became outraged at this and after a bathroom break challenged both workers as to why there was no one on staff who could take Josh’s report. The YouTuber contemplated calling police dispatch to send a police officer to the building but ultimately decided to take Josh over to District 6 to make his report.
When Benson and Josh arrived at District 6, the officer who helped them seemed confused as to why they were there as he said any officer could take Josh’s report. He then summoned an officer who took Josh’s report outside of the presence of Benson.
With the drama over, Benson drove Josh through downtown Denver, where she stopped to check on State Patrol officers in Veteran’s Park. Benson has previously complained to senior staff about the State Patrol parking vehicles on the grass in the park and was outraged on Thursday when she found that they had resumed the practice.
Benson confronted s trooper she identified as Officer Smith while he sat in his car which was parked on the grass in the park. She said she was upset with Smith, who she previously “liked” and would be reporting his actions to his superiors. Smith suggested that she make her report directly to his superior, Major Michael Ryan, over at the Annex building.
Taking him up on the offer, Benson took Josh over to the building where she encountered State Patrol Officer Josh Lewis, who she had previously befriend, who informed her that Ryan was currently in a meeting and could not meet with her at that time.
Benson opted out of waiting for Ryan leaving a message that she felt disrespected by the Major with Officer Lewis. She then made a hasty retreat from the building and back to her car where she drove Josh over to the city of Englewood.
As they drove, Benson shared with Josh her eventual plan to leave Colorado. She blamed the next “election cycle” for her decision, stating that the candidates were putting Colorado on a political path that would make the state much worse.
While she did not share where she would be moving to, she continued to express her displeasure with the state and indicated that she’d be leaving as soon as her plans were in place to move.
Benson also asked her audience to become a member of her channel as she was still a “broke bitch” and needed the funding. She stated that she was considering putting her entire channel behind a membership paywall as those who truly supported her would pay $1.99 a month to support her.
The YouTuber is expected to go live again over the weekend.
