The Karen Read defense team suffered an expected blow on Friday as Judge Beverley Cannone ruled against motions to dismiss accused murderer Karen Read of second-degree murder charges and charges of leaving the scene of an accident after knowingly injuring someone.
The pro-Karen Read protestors known as “the Canton 9” were informed on Monday that charges against them for felony witness intimidation would not be pursued by Canton police.
Groups dressed in blue and pink converged on the Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, Massachusetts on Friday, as a motions hearing was held to determine in charges should be dropped against Karen Read as supposed new evidence shows that the jury, despite not rendering a verdict, acquitted her of second-degree murder.
Karen Read’s defense team is expected to push to have her murder charges dropped later today as they meet for a motion hearing in her continuing charges for the murder of boyfriend John O’Keefe.

In a case where the defense has complained about Jose “Chille” DeCastro doing everything possible to delay or obstruct proceedings even after sanctions and warnings by the Judge, DeCastro made the unusual choice not to file an opposition motion required for Friday’s sanctions hearing, delaying the case yet again.
