Free range Grandmother and “NOT a First Amendment Auditor” Regan Benson livestreamed outside of the La Paz micro community in Denver’s district 3 on Friday where she demanded management change after a resident attacked another resident last month.
Benson, who runs the Helping Hands for Dignity Coalition, expressed her outrage that she and other homeless outreach providers have been cut off from their former clients who were accepted into the housing units on site.
She said that a group called Colorado Village Collaborative (CVC) has been tasked with running the facility. Benson singled out senior director of homelessness Programs Cuica Montoya with colorful insults and degrading comments as she chastised the work provided by the organization.
The YouTuber demanded a change in management, indicating that she felt that a number of promises made when the micro community was formed were violated by CVC and another homeless advocacy group would be better prepared to handle the facility.
Benson claimed to be upset about an incident at the micro community last month where a resident made a prolonged attack on another resident with a pipe. The attack started in the yard of the facility and eventually made its way into the management offices on site when officials attempted to separate the men.
The YouTuber, who has again made it clear that she is not a first amendment auditor, prolonged stream of consciousness event indicated that upset about reporting on the incident by quasi-news organization “Do Better Denver.” That news outlet according to Benson, may have been tipped off by long-time nemesis Sgt. Brian O’Neill of Denver’s district three.
However, the probable cause affidavit signed by another Benson nemesis, Detective Anastasia Moore differed greatly from the printed account by Do Better Denver.
Benson was rebuffed when she attempted to make a records request but did not find the information she was seeking.
The YouTuber switched subjects, with an update on her on-going charges in District 3. She’s facing a single count of Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-9-313(2.7) Protected person-Personal Info on the Internet, a misdemeanor charge.
That charge is described as, “It is unlawful for a person to knowingly make available on the internet personal information about a protected person or the protected person’s immediate family if the dissemination of personal information poses an imminent and serious threat to the protected person’s safety or the safety of the protected person’s immediate family and the person making the information available on the internet knows or reasonably should know of the imminent and serious threat.”
The charge stemmed from an incident last fall where she was doing a chalk protest outside of a Denver District 3 police facility and released Denver District 3 Commander Joel Bell’s home address and told her fans she was having a “piggie roast” at his house.
If convicted, Benson is facing up to 364 days in county jail along or up to a $1,000.00 fine or both.
Benson provided an update on the case, chastising the judge for scheduling a motions hearing for March and delaying her trial date after Benson’s attorney questioned the constitutionality of the law.
The motions hearing is now scheduled for March 2, 2026, with Benson’s trial delayed until March 25.
