Sometime activist for the homeless, freedom fighter and free-range Grandma Regan Benson ended the year with a significant legal loss but put positivity out into the universe as she addressed her fans in a New Year’s statement.
Benson’s lawsuit against the city and county of Denver was terminated on December 31, 2025, following a request by the defendants in the case with prejudice and with all parties bearing their own court costs and attorney fees.
This was the case where Benson was attempting to sue her way into consideration for an open civilian position on Denver’s Use of Force Review board, which reviews the use of force by Denver Police Officers.
Benson applied for an open slot on the board and was told she wouldn’t be considered for the board due to her history with the Denver Police Department. Benson sued as she felt her denial continued a pattern of First Amendment retaliation against her.
Much of this lawsuit was focused on Benson’s motion for a preliminary injunction that requested the Judge end the ban on Benson’s ability to apply for a spot on the review board. If the judge ruled in her favor, she would not have been granted a seat on the board, just the ability to apply for a seat on the board.
A motions hearing was held on December 5, 2025, featuring testimony from Benson, Denver police chief Ron Thomas, Police Commander Hans Levens, Police Commander Joel Bell and Deputy Chief Aaron Sanchez.
During the hearing, Benson’s motion for the preliminary injunction was denied and the motion to end the lawsuit on the 31st was essentially a mercy kill as Benson had no other way forward.
Before the ruling, Benson said that it was in Denver’s best interest to put her on the review board as it would take up all her free time and would effectively stop her from suing the police force.
Benson is currently on trial for allegedly doxing Commander Bell and directing her fans to have a “pig roast” at his house. She has previously sued and received settlements from the City for two First Amendment related lawsuits in 2024.
Benson did not seem disillusioned by her loss, and put out a positive message to her followers on her YouTube community page to start the new year:
WELCOME 2026!!!
What are your New Year goals?
Here’s a few of mine…
- Stay alive so I can see how many Denver Cops choke on their marble(s) in 2026- MARK YOUR CALENDARS for a Feb. 12th trial date for hurting a cops feelings (Joel Bell) over the words “pig roast and “guillotine”. You know, the army of cops with all the weapons of mass destruction v Regan Benson’s mouth. Idiots. 🤦♀️
- HELP MORE PEOPLE than in 2025
- Wink with a smile in the next BS bogus arrest booking photo from a warrant written by some coward cop somewhere
- Begin a new national campaign of: ditch the oath and stop lying to us (why do we keep telling them to honor their oath?)
- Start spending more time in courtrooms and start naming more judges for their incompetence & bias
- Along the way, I’d like to highlight some great public defenders by way of incarcerated individuals. (I have a more in depth plan for this after I get more legal advice). We need to start hearing more from inside our jails. Yep, talking to you Sheriff Brown of Arapahoe County (don’t think I’ve forgotten you ignored me for your staff putting my guy on a suicide hold FOR DAYS for not answering questions in booking)
There are some MAJOR problems in county jails that are ENTIRELY ignored.
- HELP MORE PEOPLE than in 2025!
- Never EVER EVER forget my daily reminders of: GOVERNMENT IS A SELF SERVING MALEVOLENT HELL and politicians/judges are a majority of scorched earth in this, our civilized society.
