For the first time in the so called “new era,” you’ve proven that you like me! You really like me! Yet, you hate me enough to include me in the goose eggs. You really hate me as well!
We had goose eggs again, glorious goose eggs, which would have been great back in the day. I mean a day without a donation going to an auditor was said to be a good day, but uhm, things changed when I was convinced to put my own GoFundMe into the mix.
Okay, okay, my own GoFundMe was never really a focus. Donations to the channel come through nice folks making PayPal donations through either direct donations or using stream elements.
We only created our GoFundMe as we had yet to establish StreamElements tipping, and a fan wanted a way to donate without having to go through CashApp or PayPal. But this is a bait and switch as we’re really not going to talk about my campaign being a loser and being depressed over goose eggs – as that’s a trap by a conspiracy that has me making as much sense as Floyd Wallace high on Mountain Dew Baja Blast…
Instead, we’re going to talk about Michael Ehline doing it again.
Monday night’s live on Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s DeleteLawz main channel was lightly attended and has done 323 likes to 46 comments in the eight hours since the stream ended. Yet, it’s somehow sitting at 31,905 views as of press time.
Not as impressive as his Sunday numbers, which somehow reached over 61,000 views in the same amount of time, but still, if it’s simply due to “vertical” format streaming and the artificial gains in the algorithm that YouTube brings to videos in this format, then sign us up.
While accusations of buying subs have dogged Ehline and DeCastro for a time now, examining Ehline’s channel seems to back up the theory that Ehline is benefitting from the algorithm gains from “vertical” streaming.
Livestreams featuring a standard widescreen format on Ehline’s channel seem to top out at 600 viewers, while those in the “vertical” format do between 1,500 and 10,000 viewers. Again, the increase in viewership does not increase their average likes or comments, but as it stands, it does seem to reflect a huge advantage vertical formatted streams have on YouTube.
They have also not resulted in any new gains to DeCastro’s GoFundMe campaigns, as he, like everyone else, saw goose eggs for Monday.
As always, if you’d like to keep us reporting new stories every day, we do have a GoFundMe of our own located at https://gofund.me/b8144e31. All proceeds go to keeping the lights on, eating, and writing new stories to feature here and on reallycoolsite.org.
