The new additions to our list of GoFundMe campaigns have again brought a victory of sorts to the YouTuber known as Auditing America with a second straight (partial) victory in the GoFundMe race for Sunday.
Auditing America, more popularly known as Asselmo, saw his campaign to help clear his name of legal charges take in $25 in donations to match the amount brought in by Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s Legal Aid Fund, Donation Fund, Help People Fund and earn the win for the day.
While impressive, the win for Asselmo was overshadowed by the co-win by DeCastro. The win apparently was spurred by the latest in a series of mysterious live streams by attorney Michael Ehline on DeCastro’s channel that saw paltry viewing numbers when it was live but gained over 60,000 viewers in the hours since it ended.
This continues a pattern over the past month where Ehline’s Sunday broadcasts have done incredible numbers in the hours following the broadcasts. Ehline’s most recent broadcast saw 200 live viewers during spot checks as it was live, which quickly exploded after the end of the stream.
DeCastro’s defenders say that it was due to Ehline’s use of YouTube’s new vertical streaming format, which gets an artificial promotional push from YouTube’s various algorithms. The last two Sunday streams by Ehline on DeCastro’s channel have been in this format.
However, critics point out that the weird gains have been observed in videos that do not use the format, resulting in accusations that viewers have been purchased either by DeCastro’s team or someone messing with DeCastro.
Currently, Ehline’s video stands at 60,388 views, 380 likes and 113 comments. This is, again, unusually low for a video with so many likes. The video, while focusing on Carolina in Forth Worth’s encounter with police and not DeCastro, only managed to bring $25.00 in new donations to DeCastro’s GoFundMe campaigns.
Again, unusually low numbers for someone who has had 60,000 viewers to his channel in the last 14 hours.
As always, if you’d like to keep us reporting new stories every day, we do have a GoFundMe of our own located at https://gofund.me/b8144e31. All proceeds go to keeping the lights on, eating, and writing new stories to feature here and on reallycoolsite.org.
For those looking to “punish” us by donating to a campaign to keep the “goose eggs” off the board, please consider donating to our own campaign, which is now listed with the rest of the GoFundMe campaigns. Since it is listed with the rest, donations to the campaign go towards keeping this column going in order to continue my daily torment of being forced to write about these things so early in the morning.
