YouTuber Ely was arrested outside of the 43rd police precinct in the Bronx, New York, on Wednesday for unspecified charges.
Ely had gone to the precinct on Wednesday in order to retrieve a camera that had been confiscated by police when the YouTuber was arrested at a library earlier in the year. As the charges had been dropped, Ely was given permission by the District Attorney in the case to retrieve the camera.
The YouTuber had his camera filming illegally as he entered the precinct, hiding it in bag as he entered the building. The camera slipped, blocking the lens, however, the audio recorded Ely demanding his camera and being told that his property was not at the location and he needed to have the arresting officer change the status of the camera I the computer system before it could be released to him.
After Ely became aggressive, a scuffle broke out and Ely was removed from the building. Ely claimed that he was thrown out of the building and landed on the ground before video was restored.
Ely was joined by a number of professional and amateur auditors outside the building as the group lingered for several hours after the incident. The YouTuber used various members of the group to enter the station and make demands of police officers.
When one of the amateur auditors, identified as Syed Mohummad, entered the station to get the badge number of a police officer Ely had interacted with, he was detained by police and apparently taken to a holding cell.
This enraged Ely, who was watching through the windows of the station. Ely demanded answers from police about Mohummad’s status for several more hours outside of the station as his gathering of auditors departed the scene.
Fellow auditor Good guy Audits was on the scene near Ely when police came out in a group during Ely’s seventh hour at the precinct. They then arrested Ely for unspecified charges before Ely’s video stream ended.
Thursday morning saw Good guy Audits live stream with YouTuber One Man Army. Good guy Audits claimed that he checked on Ely earlier that day and was told that Ely hadn’t been in the system long enough to see a judge and that Ely was being charged with New York Penal Code 120.00, which is defined as simple assault.
A call by One Man Army to Ely’s family later in the show revealed that Ely had been released but had no further details on his charges or status.
This is a developing story and we will follow up as we receive updates.
