The first amendment (1A) auditing community let out a collective staged gasp Friday night as Jose “Chille” DeCastro finally confirmed what everyone else new days ago: That Deboraugh Rodgers had been found guilty of driving while under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest and transporting a loaded weapon in her car.
The verdict had been released earlier in the week and the only outstanding questions that were not answered by the released court records was the issue of her jail time. None of the court records indicated if her twin 15-day jail sentences would be served concurrently, consecutively, or not at all.
Rodgers, after many many attempts to delay saying the verdict on DeCastro’s Friday night live stream, admitted she was found guilty and claimed that her sentence was credited as time served as she already had spent 45 days in jail for contempt charges in the case.
The news brought a jubilant reaction from DeCastro, who literally cheered her announcement. Stating that his only goal was to keep Rodgers out of jail, DeCastro discounted the fact that his friend now has convictions for driving under the influence, resisting arrest and carrying a loaded firearm as these are all “victimless” crimes.
DeCastro promised that Rodgers was now third or fourth in line for future fundraising campaigns as announced that he will be crowdfunding to cover the $2500 fines associated with Rodgers case.
In related fundraising news, the Court in Floyd Wallace’s lawsuit against the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police issued the following order:
ORDER. IT IS ORDERED that Plaintiff must either make the necessary arrangements to pay the filing fee, accompanied by a copy of this order, or file a complete application to proceed in forma pauperis. The Clerk of the Court shall send Plaintiff the short form application to proceed informa pauperis by a non-prisoner. Plaintiff must comply with this order no later than June 22, 2023. Failure to comply will result in a recommendation to the District Judge that this case be dismissed. Signed by Magistrate Judge Nancy J. Koppe on 5/25/2023. (Attachments: # 1 IFP)(Copies have been distributed pursuant to the NEF – ALZ) (Entered: 05/26/2023)
DeCastro had recently held a fund raiser for Wallace that raised over $400 in order to cover the filing costs involved in the lawsuit. DeCastro had all donations go to his personal accounts in the fundraiser and solicited the funds with the stated goal that the money would be spent on the filing costs for Wallace’s lawsuit.
The livestream featuring the fundraiser for Wallace has since been removed from public view.
DeCastro made more news as he officially announced that he was suing Gunnar of GunnarTV for failing to retract statements he allegedly made about DeCastro in a video earlier in the year. While DeCastro had previously thanked Gunnar for the exposure on his far larger YouTuber channel and indicated that he’d never sue as he received a huge gain in income and subscribers from Gunnar’s broadcast, DeCastro has changed his mind and will apparently be adding yet another lawsuit to the multitude of lawsuits he’s filed over the past year.
