YouTuber Lane Myers was arrested on new charges on Thursday following his initial appearance in front of Judge D. Douglas Metcalf in Arizona Superior Court or previously filed felony and misdemeanor charges of Aggravated Harassment, Harassment and Stalking.
The majority of Myers’ charges relate to his alleged on-going harassment campaign involving Shannon Walker, the director of development for the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law. Shannon Walker is married to Tuscon City Prosecutor Matthew Walker.
When Myers was arraigned on the charges last week, a condition of his release was no contact with the alleged victim. Myers was also directly ordered to remove all YouTube videos that featured Walker. He refused to comply with the order as he said he was not provided with a list of videos he needed to take down.
According to Myers, in a livestream posted on Reluctant Prophet’s channel aired while he was in lockup Friday night, he was charged with three more counts on Thursday involving Walker.
He said that one of the charges was for CC:’ing the victim in the previous case on an e-mail, another was for silently filming “google information” about the victim, and a third for posting a meme of the victim, her husband and their two children with Myers’ face covering the two children’s faces.
Myers vaguely instructed his followers to download the videos that he had been told to take down from his website. In his Thursday court appearances, he alluded to “other people” reposting the videos as being the reason he was arrested. He also posed the question that if all of these “other people” posted his videos, if they would be charged as well.
As of Friday afternoon, only the This is a Public Service YouTube channel has reposted Myers’ videos.
Myers also boasted that his legal fund would grow significantly due to the exposure from the coverage of his lawsuit. He was correct to some extent, as his GiveSendGo campaign took in $270.00 in donations late Thursday night. He won the day as no other funds saw donations on Thursday.
Myers will be held without bond until his No Bond Hearing on March 25, 2025. His next hearing in the original case will be on March 27, 2025. Judge D. Douglas Metcalf will handle both cases.
Court appointed attorney William Parvin was appointed to defend Myers in the first case. He will remain as an advisor during the case as Myers filed to defend himself pro se. Parvin accepted an appointment as Myers’ attorney for the second set of charges and plans to step aside as Myers will also be filing to represent himself pro se.
Please note, over the weekend Myers aired a video centering on Shannon Walker, a Vanderbilt University Medical Center employee. Our previous coverage identified her as the alleged victim. This is not the case. We apologize to Ms. Walker for the misidentification.
Also: Full disclosure, Lane Myers has threatened this publication with a lawsuit for our previous coverage of him. Despite his claims of massive media coverage, we are one of the few outlets covering the case.
