Katie Kidman Support Fails to Spark Larger Market

Katie Kidman returned to YouTube on Tuesday with an update on her white van known as “Betsy” and the hardships she’s been dealing with since the van broke down earlier in the month.

Kidman’s van broke down earlier this month with a broken axle. She was quoted $8,500.00 in repairs and Tuesday’s update showed that she was successful in raising money from her family and supporters to make the necessary repairs to the van.

Unfortunately, a seal blew on the newly repaired axle, resulting in a massive oil leak and the repair shop needed to take the van back in to fix the problem.

The YouTuber thanked her family and supporters during the video for the outpouring of support as her van is both the homebase of her work and her actual home. The loss would be insurmountable and would essentially leave the elderly YouTuber living on the streets.

Kidman is famous for living in said van and parking it in front of million-dollar houses in the Los Angeles area. When she’s not auditing the DMV or coffee shops, she’s often making YouTube content based on her experiences with homeowners who are outraged at someone parking in front of their houses.

While her van is an eyesore and she can be abrasive in her response to homeowners, it’s not illegal to park on public streets in California, including in residential areas.

Police have been called on her many times and she’s made it a focal point of her videos to show that the police tend to side with her as there’s nothing the homeowners can do about her parking in front of their homes.

Kidman has found a way to make money off of people being overtly negative over something that is legal to do in the state of California. She makes a profit from her YouTube videos showing hypocrisy and makes a decent living off of her channel as a for-profit venture.

The homeowners in question don’t understand that the key to countering Kidman is to simply not give her the reaction she needs to fuel her videos. Screaming, yelling, getting upset, having public blowups are all filmed by the YouTuber and make it on the air, allowing her channel to grow.

As we’ve found, sometimes walking away from a fight is the hardest thing to do, but often it’s the smartest. Robbing a fire of oxygen is the easiest way to end the threat of the fire. With Kidman, and other auditors, their fire is fed through negative reactions and are pretty easy to extinguish if restraint is used.

While Kidman did not open a GoFundMe as of yet, she’s taking donations on her CashApp and PayPal accounts. Those interested should see her latest video, linked above.

Kidman’s outpouring of support from her fans may mean that there’s some life in the donations market as spring is quickly approaching.

That said, we haven’t seen immediate signs of this, and the market itself remained dead on Monday while a single $10.00 hate donation came into our own on-going expenses account on Tuesday to prevent seven days of goose eggs and our ability to end this column. Then the market died again on Wednesday, with no donations observed, perhaps ending all hope for a spring turnaround.
