In the most Chille DeCastro moment of a week of Chille DeCastro moments, Jose “Chille” DeCastro turned a brief interaction with a group of rowdy teenagers into a dramatic encounter between pro and anti-Donald Trump forces where he, as savior to dozens, personally saved the boys from apparent violence at the hands of an out of control mob.
DeCastro attended Saturday’s “No Kings” rally in downtown Beverly Hills, minus his “PRESS” hoodie, put with camera going and a new question for the primarily anti-Donald Trump crowd: “Are you being paid to be here?”
The YouTuber repeated the question to himself as the livestream, based on something he had seen on Twitter/X where right wing personalities claimed that all anti-trump protestors had to have been paid by boogieman from the left, George Sorors.
Using the question as an in with a large group of people, DeCastro had some of his most human interactions on his channel to date. The question elicited chuckles and honest reactions from those he posed it to, and more often than not, he was able to navigate the interaction without incident even when he announced that there weren’t any riots and that people who burned cars were government agitators.
There were a few people who did not want to be on camera, who received the standard lecture that he had the right to film anything he can see in public, and a handful of people who called him a “narc” but otherwise, humaning on Saturday was something he seemed successful at for the first hour or so of his broadcast.
Things turned slightly strange around the mid-point of his livestream as a group of pro-Trump teenagers, decided to walk through the anti-Trump protesters. As expected, they drew a rise out of the crowd and some distant chants were heard to for them to get out.
DeCastro himself decided to randomly yell for the crowd not to hurt anyone, to which he received little to no attention. The boys retreated to the pro-Trump area of the demonstration with DeCastro following closely.
When the diminutive YouTuber attempted to interview the boys, they, like most teenagers, wanted to do with the huffing and puffing two-toned hair, “clean cut” and “well dressed” visage in front of them.
Sensing an obvious member of police or parents or the PTA or god have you, the rotary club, even if he is none of these things, the teens decided not to interact with him and generally ignored him when he inquired why “brown skinned” individuals would support someone who was putting “brown skinned” people in jail.
When the boys began to walk off, DeCastro got angry. He bellowed that he just saved the boys’ lives from an angry mob and implied that they should be appreciative of his heroic actions.
His story now supported by GloriaAD and others in his side chat, DeCastro went back to the anti-Trump area of the gathering, where he was largely ignored as he was too fired up being the protector of dozens to interact with those around him.
Instead, he sat down and spent the last forty minutes or so of his stream, reading comments from the side chat. Ignoring the golden rule of superheroes and future imaginary governors and the like that you never ever ever ever read the comments to your video.
DeCastro became increasingly agitated by those in chat who disagreed with his opinion, openly banning and counter attacking those who would insult or question his dignity or his account that he saved the boys from the now mob of people who were out to destroy them.
Strangely, DeCastro paused and said that the strangest insult one could hurl at him was to question his sexuality. Calling him “gay” was silly, he said, as “more than two women” in the world would be stunned by the accusation.
He changed gears and said that while he didn’t consider the term an insult, his fans needed to understand that he dated “a couple of women in his lifetime – more than two.” The YouTuber equated the “mind blowing” thought of someone thinking that he wasn’t heterosexual to the thought that he was a “racist” and said that he could not understand the though process.
The livestream abruptly ended a few minutes after that, as DeCastro was criticized for having changed his approach to interacting with police. He ended with an attack on United States president Donald Trump, calling him weak compared to other world leaders, before promising to return to livestream later in the evening.
DeCastro did not return to stream Saturday night. He is expected to go live again on Sunday.
