A dejected Jose “Chille” DeCastro seemed to admit defeat at the end of his Saturday afternoon livestream when he raised $89.00 of the $5,000.00 he said that he needed in a GoFundMe he had started earlier in the day.
The sometime civil rights activist and former executive explained that he needed $5,000.00 nearly immediately to bring in a “witness preparation expert” from Texas to prepare himself and his attorney, Michael Mee, for his trail scheduled for February 9, 2026.
DeCastro is suing the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department over a March 2 023 incident where he was found guilty in state level court of obstructing an officer and interfering in a crime scene.
The diminutive YouTuber spent a short amount of time in jail before having his conviction overturned later that summer. DeCastro has claimed that he has experienced a “brain fog” since his time in jail, which had hampered his ability to focus on projects until Thanksgiving of 2024.
He is seeking $1,000,000.00 in pain and suffering related damages.
Strangely, DeCastro admitted on his livestream that he went to a doctor who confirmed that there was no permanent damage to his Ulnar nerve. Among the scant information DeCastro presented in the lawsuit was an estimate for Ulnar surgery to repair his permanently damaged nerve.
It is unclear why DeCastro would need an expert to prepare witnesses for the trial, since DeCastro has yet to list any witnesses he is set to present at trial. The jury trial, at this time, will consist of DeCastro and the police involved testifying in front of the jury.
DeCastro had made only $89.00 at the end of his livestream, which went a little over an hour on Saturday. With DeCastro seemingly dejected by the fact that most of his fans have been trained to donate to him via his CashApp, Venmo and PayPal accounts and that he brought in an undisclosed amount of money to those accounts during the stream.
The former Power Rangers actor said that he was disappointed with the tally and said that he should never have opened the GoFundme on his own and should have had someone else run the campaign for him. Bitterly saying that he’s raised thousands of dollars for others but could not raise money for his own needs.
DeCastro would go on to say that he believed that he would lose his current case against the LVMPD at trial but was prepared to file an appeal. The YouTuber seemed ill-prepared for his current lawsuit, making notes as he watched bodycam footage of the 2023 arrest of things he needed to have included at trial.
One bright spot for DeCastro came when long time supporter Chevy, reportedly donated $400.00 to his PayPal early in the stream which DeCastro said that he would be applying towards suing Las Vegas police for a February 14, 2024, arrest.
In that arrest, DeCastro was apprehended after crossing under police tape twice at fatal accident scene in Las Vegas. While he was initially charged with obstruction, those charges would be dropped in the spring of 2024 while DeCastro was incarcerated after being found guilty of the 2023 charges.
