Erika Brown, girlfriend to jailed YouTuber Craig Hendry and mother of his children, expanded her duties for his YouTube channel on Sunday as she became host of a scheduled livestream interview with her partner.
Brown started the broadcast noting that she had scheduled time with her partner via video call. She expressed concerns that she did not hear from Hendry in a few days and thought he may have been placed in segregation by jail officials.
She would ultimately be stood up by her partner, as she called over to the facilty and was told that the facility’s internet was down and all visitations were cancelled until further notice. Brown promised a rescheduled interview at a later date.
Hendry is currently incarcerated in the Vermillion County, Indiana, jail after being convicted of felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment charges last year. Brown expressed her belief that Hendry was innocent of the charges despite serving time after his conviction.
Brown and Hendry’s multiple crowd sourcing efforts have been unsuccessful in raising the $12,000.00 cash bond needed to assure Hendry’s freedom from charges in Sullivan County, Indiana. Hendry will go directly to the Sullivan County jail once he is released later this month from Vermillion County.
The pair had turned to superstar YouTuber Jose “Chille” DeCastro to help raise money for their cause. DeCastro would eventually raise $280.00 for the pair from his own campaign for the couple, after dragging his feet for a time about creating it, only to abandon the campaign post launch in order to focus on his own fund-raising efforts.
While DeCastro had promised that Brown would be made the beneficiary of the funds from that campaign, as of Sunday afternoon, Brown was not listed as such. Brown will be unable to access the funds that DeCastro has raised for the pair until the change is made.
DeCastro’s complete lack of effort to support any of Hendry’s crowd sourcing campaign comes as he strangely promotes his effort to put money on Hendry’s jail account each week.
The YouTuber often expresses his support for Hendry and praises his fans for donating a large amount towards the goal of funding Hendry’s commissary account. Inexplicably ignoring Hendry’s on-going cries for freedom in the process, as he refuses to mention Hendry’s on-going crowd sourcing campaigns.
Hendry received further bad news last month with developments in his federal civil rights lawsuit against Lake County, Indiana. The lawsuit spawned from a 2022 incident where Hendy and long-time associate Tyler Pierce were attempting to film outside of the Lake County Sherrif’s Department.
The pair was arrested after a confrontation with Deputy Joesph Kraus and are suing Kraus and Sheriff Oscar Martinez for false arrest and imprisonment in federal court. The pair are seeking punitive and compensatory damages in the lawsuit.
Attorneys for the Gladish Law Group, which represent both men, have recently filed paperwork asking to be released from representing Hendry in the lawsuit. Attorneys David S. Gladish and Mark J. Schocke have both indicated that they no longer wish to represent Hendry due to an on-going “communication breakdown.”
Hendry’s recent filing for pro se status was rejected by the court as the court has yet to grant his attorneys’ permission to withdraw from the lawsuit. A hearing to discuss their requests is now scheduled for later this month.
