Supporters of Carolyn “Carolina in Ft. Worth” Rodriguez were disappointed on Tuesday as she was convicted of disorderly conduct for an incident on January 28, 2025, when she shouted “fuck” as she was being removed from a Tarrant County, Texas, Commissioner’s Court meeting.
At that meeting, Attorney CJ Grisham had just been removed from the chamber for saying “fucking” in violation of the Court’s decorum standards. He cooperated with the sheriff’s department and was not charged with a crime.
After several other speakers, Rodriguez, 61, took to the podium where she defended swearing as part of her first amendment protected rights to free speech.
She then used every “fuck hell shit damn motherfucker” in her vocabulary and was dragged off by members of the Tarrant County Sherrif’s Department and charged with “Hinder Proceedings by Disorderly conduct” after continuing to swear on her way out of the courtroom.
Her daughter ended up paying $500.00 in bond to free her mom after a short stay in jail.
According to a posting on the Tarrant County DA’s Facebook page, Rodriguez received 18 months of probation after a two-day trial. According to the same posting, if she violates probation, she could be sentenced to 270 days in jail and a $2,000.00 fine.
On Monday, Rodriguez seemed to be upbeat about her chances of beating the charges. She livestreamed multiple times from the courthouse area, saying that she had picked a good jury on the previous Friday.
Rodriguez indicated that her defense attorney was charging her a $9,000.00 flat fee for the trial. Payments will be deferred until she receives a cash settlement from the city of Fort Worth stemming from her lawsuit against the city after she was injured by a Fort Worth police officer last summer.
That incident, where Rodriguez was ultimately dropped on her face as she resisted arrest from the officer, brought her national attention last summer. The officer was later fired by the Fort Worth police department.
Frequent auditing partner Manuel Mata was less upbeat about Rodriguez’s chances of beating the charges in his own livestreams on Monday. He claimed that Rodriguez was being “railroaded” by the prosecution and that since the judge handling the case had previously sentenced Rodriguez to probation in January days before this incident, he would more than likely side with the prosecution.
Mata’s words proved prophetic as Rodriguez was found guilty by the jury on Tuesday. Rodriguez has since removed her livestreams discussing the trial and has yet to address her new conviction.
We will continue to monitor Rodriguez’s activities in Fort Worth.
