Regan Benson went live on Saturday with an hour-long diatribe featuring her thoughts on Denver’s decision to turn over a small parcel of land outside of a district 4 police station to a rival homeless outreach organization for farming purposes with the produced crops being distributed to homeless shelters in the area.
Benson saw coverage in a local paper detailing how the Table Urban Farm was able to simply “walk into” the station and have the land awarded to them. The activist protested this story as she and others had apparently previously inquired about the land and received no answers to the inquiries.
As she walked around the property, Benson stated that she had wanted to use the land to provide a safe space where the homeless could live. When she spotted a school across from the property, she said that the school would just have to deal with a homeless camp in their area, as it was more important.
Benson promised to investigate the bidding process that saw the group awarded the property and claimed that she would be pulling all records related to the decision to examine for impropriety.
As she walked the property, Benson tested her phone’s reception to check for “call blockers” that she claimed to have been targeting her phone, causing her live stream to buffer. She claimed that the same “blockers” may have been used in her previous live stream in a park in Denver.
While Benson continued to have poor reception while live streaming on her current phone, no evidence was presented that police were actively targeting her to “block her signal.”
Before ending the live stream, Benson updated the status of her friend Shelly, who, along with brother Geno, had last been seen in a park in Englewood. The advocate for the homeless stated that Shelly had been found in Denver and had her camper confiscated. She was currently being temporarily housed by the city in a hotel in Aurora, Colorado.
Benson is holding her weekly roundtable devoted to the discussion of homelessness on her YouTube channel later on Sunday.
