Jose “Chille” DeCastro’s metamorphosis continued this week when he continued to transition away from his “constitutional law scholar” moniker due to lack of success in the courts while reinventing himself as a late-night infomercial pitchman.
DeCastro changed his approach to livestreaming on YouTube in late July when he discovered that marathons in overnight hours put him into a prime promotional spot for YouTube’s vertical streams.
While pitching product giveaways and his usual anti-police rhetoric, DeCastro tapped into a crowd that simply was looking for entertainment in the overnight hours. While DeCastro fails at a lot of things, his training as an actor and pitchman seemed like a natural fit for an infomercial format.
Viewers literally threw money at the YouTuber over the past month. While they didn’t seem interested in actually buying his products, his super chat intake skyrocketed over the past 30 days. DeCastro has made $15,339.00 as of press time in super chats and membership gifting alone.
This is far more than we’ve estimated him making from his YouTube viewership revenue alone, and far more than anyone would expect from the self-described first amendment auditor and constitutional law scholar.
Unfortunately for the YouTuber, he seems to have traded his reputation as the person who can show someone how to handle their legal problems on their own without a lawyer, has given up that role as he’s used his newfound wealth to hire lawyers to handle his own legal matters.
One of these problems, a warrant for molesting police vehicles out of Oklahoma, saw a filing by DeCastro’s new flat fee attorneys on Thursday. DeCastro is apparently paying around $3,000.00 for the attorneys to handle that case, and their first filing was to ask for an arraignment hearing for DeCastro where he can appear remotely.
On his own, DeCastro was denied this ability in his own motion earlier this year as he demanded a remote appearance in hearings related to the charges and the court ruled that he needed to appear in person to verify his identity.
DeCastro has also complained about sales in more recent livestreams. Apparently calling short a stream on Friday due to lack of sales. While his success from being handed money through super chats is apparent, it’s unclear where he will go if his audience is trained to get his products for free through giveaways.
In crowdsourcing news, DeCastro’s remaining GoFundMe account is devoted to Oklahoma’s Heather Chandler, who no longer needs the money as her charges have been dismissed, saw no new donations for the day on Thursday.
John “First Amendment Protection Agency” Medaglia’s HELP MRS. FAPA AND I GET A NEW CAR!!! Fund brought in $25.00 to win Thursday’s crowd sourcing title.
DeCastro didn’t fare much better on Friday, as none of the campaigns we follow saw no new donations for the day. Christopher “Direct D” Ruff’s GiveSendGo account lost $100.00 for the day.
The market was again quiet for Saturday, with the geese taking over the grounds as none of the campaigns that we follow saw donations for the day.
DeCastro is currently live streaming as of press time.
