In an unexpected development, James “James Freeman” Springer’s Tuesday pretrial hearing saw his defense council ask for a Donald hearing in order to go over an apparent plea deal offered to Springer by the prosecution in the case.
Springer was arrested on various domestic violence related charges in May following an incident at his home with his wife and daughter that resulted in a low speed police chase and the use of a “grabber” device to help apprehend the first amendment auditor and cop watcher.
The popular YouTuber was held on $40,000.00 bond for the charges, which he was able to pay in cash after an outpouring of support from the first amendment auditing community, which raised nearly $72,000.00 to date.
Unlike other first amendment related personalities, Springer has remained relatively quiet about his charges and has not livestreamed in support of his freedom.
Springer has also made it clear at previous hearings that he intends to move his family to Texas once his charges resolve and the protection orders prohibiting contact with his family are lifted.
While Springer was initially charged with a bevy of felonies and misdemeanors, his charges have been reduced to:
28-622.01 UNLAW FLIGHT FROM LAW ENF VEH F5
13-2904A DISORDERLY CONDUCT M1
13-2904A DISORDERLY CONDUCT M1
13-1202A1 THREAT-INTIM W/INJ-DMGE PROP M1
13-1202A1 THREAT-INTIM W/INJ-DMGE PROP M1
13-1602A1 Criminal Damage amount >= $250 and < $1,000 M1
Springer was apparently granted the Donald hearing which has been set for August 17, 2026 at 8:30AM local time.
This is a breaking news story.
