Free range Grandmother and future former resident of the state of Colorado was joined by YouTuber Luis “Real Constitutional Upholders” Johnson while standing in the parking lot of the Englewood, Colorado, police department to share the news that Johnson’s conviction for harassing a police officer last year was overturned on appeal.
Johnson was convicted by a jury last year of harassing an Englewood police officer by following the man with his car while the man was on-duty. This was the incident that inspired Benson to demonstrate her rage by simulating “full cowgirl” in a direct attack on Judge Christina Apostoli in September of last year.
The full video of that incident is still available below.
This was also the trial where Benson accused an Englewood police officer of improperly rubbing up against her when he returned to his seat after testifying.
Johnson’s jail time for his conviction in that case was set aside as he appealed the case and Johnson, through Benson, shared that the ruling was thrown out and sent back to the lower court.
The appeals court found that Judge Apostoli had violated Colorado Rule of Evidence 404(b), which bans using evidence of past bad acts or uncharged misconduct to prove a person’s bad behavior.
Benson warned that while Johnson’s conviction was thrown out, he would likely be retried for the harassment charges due to an implied vendetta by police.
Johnson himself appeared a bit dazed during his encounter with Benson. The YouTuber is still recovering after being shot in an altercation with Denver Police earlier in the year. Before the shooting, gun rights advocate Johnson regularly served as Benson’s de facto bodyguard in areas of Colorado where Benson felt unsafe.
The gun advocate would get more animated as he held Benson’s phone to record her chalking insulting comments towards police outside of the Englewood police department. The pair would leave together at the end of the video.
Benson released a follow-up video Tuesday morning of Englewood fire fighters using hoses to remove her chalking. She screamed at the men that they should be “fighting fires” and complained that Colorado was in a drought.
The men largely ignored her protests, finished their work and drove off without major engagement with the YouTuber.
Benson followed that up with a statement on her YouTube community page early Tuesday morning:
Look who it is!
It’s Luis from @T.R.C.U
What a great day, I finally was able to spend a little time with him and see his happy smiling face again.
That almost didn’t happen because Denver PD almost ended his life after shooting him 9 times.
It’s hard to believe and understand how they’re getting away with doing what they did to him, but here we are.
There really are no words.
It’s all very surreal. This kid really is a miracle.
Did you know after getting shot that many times, he got up and put himself on the ambulance stretcher because the EMT’s didn’t know what to do.
He was treated HORRIBLY. It’s all impossible to understand and wrap my brain around.
Some people are going to answer for what they did to him, in time.
For now I’m just super grateful I was able to once again say hi to him and he got a tad bit of good news today in an EvilHood case.
The other city that would be A-ok with ending his life too. We hung out, did some chalk protest and redress, had dinner with a great friend and laughed at the fire department hosing off my chalk art.
This is an on-going news update.
