In an unremarkable turn of events, Jose “Chille” DeCastro announced on his Wednesday night live stream that after years of protecting his copyright and threatening YouTuber Jonathan “Frauditor Troll” Hudon-Huneault with an unspecified future lawsuit the night before, he was allowing anyone to use his content as all of his content was now “open source.”
The YouTuber apparently ended, at least for one night, his long-standing policy of copyright striking other channels that use his material. Mainly, as observers noted, due to the fact that next to no one has interest in his channel to the point to parody or redistribute his content based on his past actions.
DeCastro’s policy of safeguarding his material has been legendary, dating back to 2022 when he briefly emerged as the top YouTuber in the first amendment space. Dozens of channels would mercilessly mock his content during the era when he was at war with Kate Peter’s Masshole Mafia.
The diminutive YouTuber went so far as to repurpose a defamation lawsuit against Peter and his former friend Josh “Accountability for All” Abrams into a copyright lawsuit involving Google that was ultimately dismissed in 2023.
By the time of the dismissal, DeCastro had temporarily taken down half a dozen YouTube channels based on copyright strikes, claiming that because the reworked federal lawsuit contained multiple “John Doe” defendants, it fulfilled the requirement of filing a lawsuit against the person in their home state or country.
Most channels stopped using his footage at that point, with the lone holdout being the Welsh News Network, which continued to use his footage and faced hundreds of copyright hits from DeCastro until early 2024 when it shut down for unrelated reasons.
DeCastro’s announcement’s impact on his current lawsuit against John “Irish Demon” O’Dea is also unknown at this time. DeCastro has an active federal lawsuit against the Irish YouTuber for carrying out hack of his channel in 2024 and a various copyright related issues.
That lawsuit is on the verge of receiving a default judgment and potential monetary award at the point where DeCastro has now given permission to anyone to use his copyrighted works.
In other DeCastro news, the failed Power Ranger continued to diminish the seriousness of domestic violence related incidents on his Thursday night livestream. DeCastro verbally attacked and insulted anyone who would call the police over a domestic violence issue as he stated that he personally feels that families should be allowed to use physical violence against each family members to settle issues within the family.
Strangely, DeCastro also stated that it was unfair for police to use guns against suspects armed with knives or other improvised weapons. DeCastro had previously stated that he would require all police to take grappling training when he becomes governor of a yet to be named state in the future.
Correcting our own coverage, DeCastro’s channel is not stagnant as Social Blade recorded 1,000 new members earned by the channel on July 19 with a second batch of 1,000 recorded on July 22. Due to DeCastro’s high volume of subscribers, SocialBlade only will update when a channel has achieved 1,000 new members.
DeCastro is expected to hold another multi-hour giveaway stream later tonight.
