Welsh News Network’s live stream on Monday, January 16, 2023, abandoned the normal lighthearted humor and frivolity that his broadcasts are known for, addressing the situation with the family of Jacqueline “Laney” Hudson’s apparent decision to hire Jose “Chille” DeCastro as a media consultant.
Welsh started the broadcast and later ended the broadcast with the following statement:
Yes, that’s right the British guy is going to give a speech to the colonies, because it worked so well in the past.
I have nothing but pity in my heart for the mother of Laney. She is the victim of greed, grief, poverty and ignorance. But my pity does not extend so far as to her putting a man’s life at stake, which she has done in an effort to gain sympathy and money.
Her words and actions are endangering the life of Jeff Racer Junior and his family, his wife and children are already receiving threats, Hannah the passenger in the car has had to delete her social media and go in to hiding as a result of the mob mentality been played out in Huntington West Virginia, and on the internet by money grasping whores like Chille.
Chille, who would sell his very sole for his chance at his 15 minutes of fame and fortune, whose driving force in life is power and fortune, whose twisted sense of self-importance will not allow for him to ever have made a mistake, whose ego will never allow for him to be wrong, this wrenched excuse of a man, cannot allow for any to resist his incoherent ramblings as they must be the enemy
So, do we sit here and do nothing while these people hound these innocent people to their death? Or do we take up a stand for decency and human kindness? Do we all sit back and watch the show with a bag of popcorn, or do we stand up and be counted by not allowing Chille and his like to set the narrative?
We have to stand up for the judicial system or surrender both our countries to anarchy, we have legal and fair way to investigate what happened in Huntington. Or shall we just get out our pitchforks and light our touches?
In both our countries the courts are the great levelers. In both our courts, all are created equal. I’m no idealist to believe firmly in the integrity of the courts and of the jury system. That’s no ideal. That is a living, working democracy.
Hudson’s mother, Opal Slone, and aunt, Amber Brescoach, appeared on the Welsh News Network panel on Saturday, January 14, 2023, and made a plea to end the hostilities towards others in Hudson’s name. They listened to the story of Tina Slay, who lost her son in an officer-involved incident and had a negative experience with DeCastro and seemed receptive of the warnings from Slay and the panel about DeCastro’s behavior and intentions, implying that DeCastro had sent Slone at least one abusive e-mail when she refused to appear on his live stream.
On Sunday, January 15, 2023, Opal Slone and her sister Jessica Slone appeared individually on DeCastro’s live stream, making accusations about the police officer and made no effort to stop DeCastro as he made direct threats against the officer involved in the accident.
The Welsh News Network broadcast on Monday night was made in response to DeCastro and the family’s accusations about the officer, their conflicting stories and timelines, DeCastro’s threats towards the officer and DeCastro’s apparent mishandling of super chats that were given during to him during his live streams in the name of the family, alleging that DeCastro kept over $100 in donations that never made it to the very public gofundme campaign.
The panel examined what they knew about Opal Slone’s arrest last summer for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and reminded Slone and her family that if they indeed hired DeCastro to be their media consultant, then the statements from DeCastro – including his threats towards the police officer – could be considered to be statements and threats made by the family.
There is real concern from members of the community that Slone’s willingness to follow the advice of DeCastro, who has a reputation of making statements that are not factual in nature, using his live streams to threaten and intimidate police officers and judges involved in cases that he is either an active participant in or serving as a media consultant for someone involved in the case, will harm her ability to find justice for her daughter.
Welsh News Network made it clear that he had nothing but compassion for the family until they used his broadcast deceptively. He stated that he had prepared to make a $40,000 donation towards the gofundme and changed his mind due to the family’s actions on the broadcast and their apparent dismissal of Tina Slay’s heartfelt advice.
