Free range grandma and sometime advocate for the homeless Regan Benson returned to Englewood, Colorado, on Monday to berate police officers who were involved in the towing of a homeless woman’s motorhome, which broke down on a main street in the city.

Benson started her livestream by observing an Englewood police cruiser leaving the area as she parked directly across from a large motorhome that was partially blocking a side street. Two Englewood police cruisers were parked down the side street and were blocked from view.

The YouTuber got out of her car, crossing the street and immediately began to verbally assault the two officers, who later identify themselves as officer Wilson and officer Tafoya. Benson continued her verbal assault on Wilson, demanding that he “do something” for the woman who owned the motorhome.

While Benson was busy screaming, the woman who owned the motorhome, identified by Benson as Stephanie, attempted to work on her vehicle. Officer Tafoya had said that he wasn’t towing the motorhome and Benson became further enraged when Dick’s Towing arrived on the scene to tow the vehicle.

Benson turned her rage towards Brian, the Dick’s Towing driver, before meeting with Stephanie. Stephanie said that there had been six officers on the scene before Benson got there and some had been in her vehicle.

Besides blocking the road for whatever issues it was having, Stephanie’s motorhome had a long slab of wood serving as a door and had a smashed windshield.

Benson aggressively approached Brian as he was preparing to hook up the tow truck. He charged at her, backing her away from the scene, with officer Tafoya blocking him from coming close to Benson.

This resulted in Benson screaming that he wouldn’t have been brave enough to “do that” if her husband was there. She spent some time accusing Brian of being a woman beater before she was distracted by the arrival of an unidentified Englewood police sergeant.

As the police sergeant arrived, a woman from the neighborhood also arrived. That woman immediately began to calmly intervene and talk to the sergeant. While she was interrupted several times by a vocally negative Benson, she proposed that the police call off the tow and let her pay for a tow on her own to a private facility.

Benson interjected that she’d pay for half of the tow at that point. The woman wanted to know why the officers refused to get Stephanie help and wanted to know what the officers could do for the woman.

The Sergeant explained that the motorhome had no tags, was missing a door and the windshield was smashed making it unfit to drive. The woman again appealed to let her have it towed elsewhere so the police wouldn’t impound it.

Again, the Sergeant said that Englewood’s co-responder for homeless issues was in a meeting and unavailable at the time. Benson interjected again and was politely backed off by the woman.

In the end, the woman gave Stephanie her card and said she’d be right back. The motorhome was towed and all three police units left the scene. Stephanie sat on a street corner with her dog and three bags of her belongings.

Benson was in her car berating the police and chiding the woman for attempting to interfere in the scene. She was in the middle of summing up the situation with no one cared and Stephanie was going to be left sitting on the street corner alone… when the woman from the neighborhood came back and sat with her.

She then sat in her car plugging a panel show on YouTube she had scheduled for later in the evening before ending the stream.

Benson is set for trial in Denver on Wednesday for charges of 18-9-313(2.7) PROTECTED PERSON-PERSONAL INFO ON INTERNET.

We will provide updates on that trial as we receive them.
