YouTuber and future candidate for government, SeanPaul “Long Island Audit” Reyes went live on Friday to bring the amazingly incredible news that Melbourne, Florida, mayor Paul Alfrey was now under investigation after his former sister-in-law files a criminal complaint against him for fraud.
Reyes started the broadcast by announcing that his fans could only trust his account of this news as he did not have the “political” ties that “big journalism had.” At that time, Reyes failed to mention that he is currently suing mayor Alfrey for defamation and is currently seeking to profit from the story that he is covering.
While Reyes would later disclose this fact, he also initially failed to tell his viewers that it was Alfrey’s former sister-in-law who got him involved in the allegations against the mayor. He would eventually make it clear that he’s been working with the sister-in-law and her attorney since the beginning of his involvement in the case.
Reyes took a stand against Alfrey on Friday, demanding that Florida Governor Ron Desantis immediately remove the mayor from office for “corruption.” The rotund YouTuber would then direct his fans to contact flood the Governor’s office with that demand, giving out the governor’s contact information in the description of the video.
The king of all First Amendment Auditing YouTubers then attempted to make a case for Alfrey allegedly funneling money from various projects he was involved in as Mayor into contracts that would eventually be held by the roofing company he shared with his late brother.
Reyes framed his shock and awe at the investigation as further proof that Alfey should be removed from office. The investigation apparently was neither a shock or surprise to Reyes. Alfrey’s former sister-in-law filed a report with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
That report rehashed her on-going allegations that Alfrey misused a credit card belonging to the business he shared with his brother after his brother’s passing.
According to the Florida Today online publication on Friday, and not included in Reyes’ reporting, Alfrey gave a statement that the card had been paid off with his own funds and that it was later replaced by a card in his own name.
Reyes most recently sued Alfrey for defamation, claiming that Alfey did irreparable damage to Reyes’ reputation by making a generic statement of “the YouTuber and his followers” were responsible for death threats made towards the mayor and city staff.
While Reyes did not push his on-going crowd sourcing campaigns on the stream, he may begin to emphasize the campaigns again as they’ve flatlined in recent days.
Thursday saw Reyes’ Help Me Fight These Unlawful Charges & Injustice fund take in $10.00 in a single new donation, earning him the win for the day.
Friday was back to goose eggs as the market as a whole was crowded out by Canadian geese nesting in the once cash rich fields.
Saturday rounded out the week, with more geese than donations, as even for the fourth time in five days, not even Reyes’ manufactured outrage could scare the geese away.
Update: Sunday saw goose eggs for a third-straight day as Reyes, nor anyone else, was able to attract donations to keep the geese from nesting in the empty streets of the marketplace.
Friday’s live stream saw 88,000 views, 2369 concurrent viewers at peak, 7,900 likes, 794 comments and $215.00 in super chat contributions.
