Bastion of freedom, snappy dresser and occasional Granny Goodness lookalike Regan Benson took to the streets of Colorado to panhandle on behalf of her Helping Hands for Dignity Coalition 501(c)(3) organization during the “No More Kings” protest but would later have a one-sided heated confrontation with police in Sheridan, Colorado.
The afternoon started with Benson standing on a street corner in the Denver area, asking for donations for her organization. She explained to passersby that with the government shutdown, food benefits would not be distributed to the homeless in November as she sought funds.
She also told her viewers that she had no interest in the well-organized political rally, and that all politicians were worthless, she was at the event to take advantage of the goodwill of the people by raising money for her organization.
Benson was greeted warmly and was handed cash by multiple participants at the event but would later complain that she only received a single CashApp or Venmo donation; despite having barcodes printed on a sign she had been holding during the event.
The normally outraged YouTuber held her tongue as she interacted with participants, apparently focused on helping those in need by raising money on the scene. As the event wrapped up, she was given cookies and donuts by a bystander, who asked her to distribute them to the homeless.
Returning to her car, Benson claimed that a “fraud channel” had to remove a video that allegedly accused her of “stealing from the homeless.” She said the channel was in deep excrement and that if anyone wanted to use her YouTube content, they needed to e-mail her for permission.
Her first livestream of the day ended with Benson pondering a return to Douglas County, Colorado, where she said she was going to start a “handouts do help” campaign to counter Douglas County’s messaging that the public should avoid donating directly to homeless individuals.
Benson’s second live stream picked up in Sheridan, Colorado, focusing on a man sitting on a large decorative rock on the sidewalk while three police officers questioned him. The YouTuber interjected, screaming expletives and insults at one of the police officers.
According to Benson, as she focused her ire on a specific officer, before her livestream started she had approached the scene and was silently filming when the officer approached her to back away from the traffic stop that was in progress.
She was outraged by the request and said that the police loved to “escalate everything,” despite the police largely ignoring her on scene and moving away as she started oinking at them.
Benson explained that she thought that the police officers were going to kill her when she was initially approached to move away from the scene. Again, done in a backdrop of the officers moving away from her or largely ignoring her as she went into another tirade.
After the police left, Benson approached the driver of the vehicle, who received a citation in the incident. The man said he was pulled over for a cracked windshield and that the police said they saw a pipe in his front console, allowing them to search his vehicle without consent.
Benson would later claim that the man was a known target of the police and that the police were “dirty” and targeted the homeless in Sheridan.
Much like the previous livestream, Benson returned to her car to interact with her chat before ending the stream. This time she “deputized” two supporters, including Gloria AD of DeleteLawZ fame, into moderators to handle “trolls” that had been making comments in her chat.
Benson did not hold her promised Douglas County livestream later in the day.
