Ending years of speculation, the YouTuber known as Frauditor Troll did a surprise face reveal Wednesday night and confirmed both that his name was “Jonathan” and that he was a Canadian citizen and currently living in Canada.
Frauditor Troll has been one of the most popular figures in the “anti-auditing” movement since debuting his channel in 2022. While seen as an “entrance drug” into the anti-auditing community, rivaling only Doctor Dave in overall popularity spread out over multiple YouTube channels, his identity has been a mystery.
Various YouTubers including Regan Benson, Audit Them and even Doctor Dave have attempted to unsuccessfully reveal his true identity over the years, offering speculation as to his real name, address, and status as a Canadian citizen.
Troll himself has maintained at times that he’s lived in America and has stood up against the abuse of the United States constitution by those who conduct First Amendment audits.
While Benson, Audit Them and, at times, Doctor Dave, have all been targeted by Troll’s videos, he is known for reporting on a vast number of auditors and using their own footage to incriminate them in his livestreams.
Most recently, Troll has had a lawsuit filed against him by that Randall S. “The Unhinged Attorney” Newman, Esq., on behalf of Christopher “Denver Metro Audits” Cordova. The pair allege that Troll misused Cordova’s footage in a video that violated the supposed “fair use” exemption of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
In that suit, Troll also stands accused of falsifying a DMCA counter notice as he listed an incomplete New York City address as part of his counter complaint. Attempts to serve Troll at the address recently proved unsuccessful since Troll did not include a suite number in his address.
Troll himself revealed himself to be a man in his late twenties to mid-thirties, with prominent glasses, a receding hairline and a propensity to wear gold chains. Boomers in his audience compared his appearance to actor Gary Burghoff, who was most famous for playing the character “Radar” on the 1980’s TV series “M*A*S*H.”
He indicated that he took the identity of Frauditor Troll and the name Josh, which he said he’d later regret due to the prominence of Josh Lanto and Josh Abrams, to protect his identity and his family from doxing by first amendment auditors.
The YouTuber said he decided to reveal his face and his partial identity as he was watching political commentators and realized that they did not hide their identities despite facing intense criticism from political figures.
Making no mention of the on-gong legal battles, Troll went on to promote his existing channels and said that he would be focusing on non-auditing content in the future with another new channel.
Troll briefly addressed criticism that he only focused on United States auditors and ignored auditing in Canada, and seemed to indicate that he would bring some focus to Canadian auditors before again promoting his channels and ending the livestream.
LOL so much to unpack.
1) The missing address. Now there could be many reasons why the service was refused but I suspect the main reason was that he only rented the address for a limited lease period like 3-6 or 12 months. Since the lolsuit is over 2 years old…
Many people, students especially, change addresses every year. They move around town, they make a group to rent then it breaks up at the end of semester etc. So, the fact that his 2 year old address is different now? Any meaning they wish to make from it, is mostly done in the echo chamber of their so called minds. A judge is not going to take any notice that he moved after 2 year. Now if he had moved within the 2 week period when he was ready to accept service, you know the time period that was agreed upon by all parties? that 2 weeks, ya, that part of the legally binding agreement with youtube to handle this matter, then there might be an issue. But after so many years, so many years later, long after the agreed upon 2 weeks had passed, there is no legal significance in his address not being the same.
2) The lolsuit is dismissible on its face. All parties agreed to follow YT guidelines that included suit within a certain period in which they could file on the other party. Since no suit was launched… the claims are past the point of suit. You say in your complaint to YT that You will sue within a limit number of days. All you have to do is file notice in the court of said suit and then the YT agreement survives. Two years later? Makes the suit untimely.
3) The face reveal? His lawyer told him to do that. WHAT? Yes the real lawyer told him to do that, You want to remove as many issues as you can from the docket to make sure they have nothing to win on. So they claim he is hiding his face and location. Well, nope, he is not. And here is the video to prove it.
I know right, who knew there are good competent lawyers out there to give good advice.
4) Canadian law is sooooooo different. Loitering in front of a post office is charged as a crime. The cops arrest, ticket and release the frauditor and let the court deal with it. A few 500$ fines and suddenly the YT money is not all that great.
There really are so few auditors in Canada. The climate and legal climate is just not right for such people up here. There are a few of them, just not nearly the amount you see on American YT, Same thing for UK, and Australia. There are a few but the numbers are a lot less.
5) For ships and giggles. In international law, if you want a settlement, you file in the same country, perhaps best in the same city. eg better to sue someone of American citizenship in the USA and if they live in New York, then sue in New York city. Not sue them in washington. You can do that of course, it just opens up a whole year as they argue venue.

Imagine how bad a lawyer you have to be to bring a lolsuit long after the time agreed to by the parties is past and except the suit to survive?
Yes your honor we had agreed to the two week period but then we go lost, went to jail. The dog ate our homework and here we are near tell three year latter. But honestly there was like no time lost. and that perky agreement that allows us to sue in Calf, you should just read THAT part and gloss over the rest. In fact, just skip it altogether. Unless we want to mind some other paragraph but certainly do NOT, nope certain DO NOT read the whole thing or expect us to follow the whole thing…

There is a legal principle that you have to mitigate damages. You cannot just let the fire burn, you have to call the fire department to put it. So that there will be, theoretically less damage done by the fire. So, by not filing for two long years, you expect to recoup all that time as part of your damage recovery?
How about no.
How about if it ever gets that far, you might get damages from the date of copyright?
Yes I know. That sort of thinking is not YT legal so it cannot matter at all.
Lastly, the fact that a real lawyer has their name involved with this is incredible, You could not make this story up for a hollywood movie and have anyone buy the script. Too unbelievable….
